In the current global business environment, enterprise customer requirements are much more complex and urgent than ever before. Couple this with the pressure to improve performance and profit, and it is no wonder that customers require IT solutions that result from the collaboration of multiple IT service providers and vendors.

"IT service providers must concentrate on their ability as well as their business, relationship and management acumen to aggregate the necessary service components needed for specific client solutions," said Michael Haines, principal analyst for Gartner Dataquest's IT services worldwide group.

A recent survey of IT service providers who deliver solutions to the enterprise found that 60 percent of respondents plan to build alliances with no more than five new vendors during 2002.
