Intraspect Software, Inc.announced the appointment of Ben C. Barnes to president and chief executive officer. Barnes, who directs the company's strategy and operations, will first focus on building sales momentum, increasing solutions marketing and developing strategic partnerships. Barnes has also been appointed as a member of Intraspect's Board of Directors.

Most recently, Barnes served as president and CEO of Sagent Technology, a provider of enterprise business intelligence software. At Sagent, he raised $34M in private placement funding and bolstered indirect channel revenues by 200 percent. Prior to Sagent, Barnes was general manager of IBM's Global Business Intelligence Solutions division and drove over $1 billion in sales annually for his division directly and more than $4 billion annually in business intelligence sales across IBM. Prior to IBM, Barnes was chief marketing officer for Teradata, now a division of NCR.

Barnes joins Stacey Soper who has been named chief operating officer. Soper will run business development, product development, customer support and professional services. Soper joined Intraspect in 1998 as vice president of product development and has been instrumental in driving significant achievements with Intraspect's market-leading products and services.
