Initiate Systems, Inc., the recognized standard in enterprise master person index (EMPI) software for the health care industry, announced that it has further expanded its healthcare focus to provide the payer market with solutions that address its customer centric data management and interoperability needs. Initiate Identity Hub software will assist payers in providing a complete, accurate view of member and provider data across their entire enterprise to improve claims processing, customer relations management, patient safety and regulatory compliance requirements. Initiate Systems has hired 23-year health care information technology industry veteran Walt Ellenberger as vice president to lead its health care payer group.
The strength of Initiate Systems and its software within the broader healthcare market was a huge draw for me and will contribute to its success in the payer market," said Ellenberger. "For any payer interoperability initiative to be successful, it must start with the creation of a single, accurate and complete view of providers, members and patients, which is exactly the benefit Initiate software provides."
Several trends are driving technology changes in the payer market today and creating demand for more effective customer data integration and data management solutions, especially those that can quickly and seamlessly match and link relevant financial and clinical data to the right member and provider in real time. First, the rise in consumerism, cost-containment and regulatory compliance requirements create the need for greater transparency and improved collaboration. Second, the demand for administrative simplification, such as support for national provider identifiers, increases the need for system interoperability. Finally, the desire to improve patient safety and quality care drives demand for electronic health records and pay-for-performance programs.
