Menlo Park, Calif., July 13, 2000 – Informix Corporation, a technology leader in software infrastructure for the i.Economy, announced that the Informix Board of Directors has appointed Informix Board member Peter Gyenes, 54, as chief executive officer of Informix, effective immediately.

“I am delighted to accept this position and enthusiastic about implementing the Informix strategy. We will continue and accelerate the process of transforming our company from a traditional relational database vendor into a leading provider of software and solutions for new and expanding Internet-based applications,” said Gyenes. “We are targeting market segments that require highly scalable, highly reliable solutions that tightly integrate Web content, transactions and business intelligence, and where our products and services offer demonstrably superior capabilities.”

Gyenes was chairman, president and CEO of Ardent Software, Inc., prior to Informix’s acquisition of Ardent on March 1, 2000. He joined Ardent in 1996. Before his tenure at Ardent, Gyenes was president and CEO of Racal InterLan, Inc., of Boxborough, Mass. Gyenes has more than 30 years of sales and marketing information technology experience which include positions held with Prime Computer Inc., Encore Computer, and Data General. He serves on the boards of Applix Computer Systems, Axis Computer Systems, Content Integrity, Cornerstone Internet Solutions, Davox Corp., and the Massachusetts Software and Internet Council.
