Meridian Energy has selected the Lavastorm Analytic Engine to ensure the accuracy of tariffs.

National Life Group, a Fortune 1000 insurance company, adopted Attunity's CDC and data replication software to enable operational business intelligence and enterprise master data management in order to increase operational efficiencies and productivity.

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield picks SAS
Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, the largest nonprofit health plan in upstate New York, wanted to provide its actuarial team with more time to analyze data and predict future membership trends and medical claims expenses. To do so, Excellus BCBS turned to SAS.
“In a typical year, we deal with more than 100 million member and claims records,” said Joseph Randazzo, Excellus BCBS manager of actuarial services. “The amount of data is too large to manage with Microsoft Office Access databases. With SAS, you can just kick off a process flow and work on something else while waiting for the results.”

MetroPCS Connects with Netezza’S TwinFin

SAS to Help Connecticut Analyze Student Assessment Data
The Connecticut State Department of Education will use SAS to integrate, analyze and report on student assessment data, including school accountability data, with the goal of identifying factors important to student success.

Siemens to Deploy Front-End BI Solution from Information Builders
Siemens chose WebFOCUS as its global front-end business intelligence solution for new reporting applications and will add the BI platform to its list of standard platforms.
"In the tendering process, the front-end BI solution WebFOCUS from Information Builders scored the highest in terms of functionality, technology and price," explains Jürgen Strahwald, head of the Governance department at Siemens AG's Corporate Information Technology Center in Munich. "The software from Information Builders is a convincing solution. The first applications will be up and running in time for the new fiscal year in October 2010." Nathan Jagoda, country manager for Information Builders Deutschland, adds: "We consider the introduction of Information Builders as the front-end business intelligence solution for Siemens to be a trendsetting decision."

SAP Solutions Selected by United Water
United Water , one of the largest water services companies in the U.S., selected products from SAP AG to help improve the quality and capabilities of its customer service operations.
United Water provides water and wastewater services to 7.3 million people in the United States. In addition to owning and operating 20 regulated utilities, United Water operates over 220 municipal and industrial systems through public-private partnerships and contract agreements. The company chose business intelligence and enterprise information management solutions from the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio to cultivate deeper understanding of its customer base and better manage its corporate data.
The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club Takes Advantage of DataCore
The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, host of Wimbledon, is using DataCore’s SANsymphony as its storage backbone.
“Our initial requirement was to reduce the costs of deploying and running our CCTV system. The system had a very high storage requirement – between 16-20 TBs as a monthly load which we then intended to overwrite – and this was even at a heavily compressed rate,” said Andrew Jones, IT Infrastructure & Security Analyst at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
The Tokyo Institute of Technology Selects Voltaire
The Tokyo Institute of Technology selected Voltaire’s 40 Gb/s InfiniBand switches for Japan’s first 2.4-petaflop supercomputer, the TSUBAME 2.0.
The new supercomputer will bring research tools to users in both the industrial and academic world.
“TSUBAME 2.0 will continue to push science forward by providing world-class supercomputer facilities that enable research and development to be completed and utilized more quickly than ever before,” said Professor Satoshi Matsuoka of Global Scientific Information and Computing Center (GSIC), Tokyo Institute of Technology. “We designed the system with the latest Intel Westmere-EP and Nehalem-EX CPUs coupled with more than 4,200 of NVIDIA Tesla 20-series GPUs to provide extreme processing capabilities on each node. To capitalize on this new level of compute power, we implemented a dual-rail, non-blocking fabric that can support throughput up to 80 Gb/s per node, employing two Voltaire 40 Gb/s InfiniBand connections on each node.”
IBM Aims to Help Alleviate Water Shortages in Northern California’s Wine Country
IBM and the Sonoma County Water Agency, which supplies water to more than 600,000 people, have teamed up to address the pressing problem of water management in the heart of Northern California’s wine country.
By bringing together and analyzing data including water usage and quality, weather and climate, and environmental considerations, IBM’s water management system is helping SCWA make better decisions about resource allocation dynamically based on near real-time information. The system includes geographical and system map views so SCWA and its partner stakeholders can quickly identify and address specific issues such as low chlorine residual or low storage tank levels, in minutes rather than hours.
