IDS Scheer, the provider of solutions for business process excellence, announced a joint venture with Grupo ASSA, one of the leading business process management consulting and application management firms in Latin America. The joint venture in Brazil will provide solutions, strategies and best practice SAP implementations to the pulp, paper and metals industry, and will combine IDS Scheer's expertise within this vertical with Grupo ASSA's consulting expertise in the region.

In 2005, IDS Scheer selected Grupo ASSA as a strategic partner in Latin America based on the strength of its IT and Business Process Consulting resources deployed for large, regional and global customers within Latin America. The partnership gained quick traction with three major customer wins in the latter half of 2005 with Petrobras, OSDE and Telecom de Argentina.

The recent success of the partnership and driving force behind the joint venture has been due to the increasing demand for business process-driven large scale SAP implementations in Brazil. Large paper and steel mills are experiencing a major growth surge and making significant investments in expanding operations and upgrading existing facilities. The "Master Mills" solution developed through the IDS Scheer-Grupo ASSA joint venture has resulted in helping these organizations optimize their business processes along the entire manufacturing and customer value chain. The joint venture has already started working on its first consulting engagement, and anticipates several million-dollar revenue in 2006 and 2007.

Grupo ASSA is an implementation partner for the use of the ARIS Value Engineering (AVE) Methodology. ARIS Value Engineering is an innovative methodology that captures BPM best and next practices for its consultants to reference and provide the highest levels of customer service and expertise. AVE for SAP is an IDS Scheer-developed implementation approach that optimizes business value through SAP Solution Manager and ARIS Platform.
