Brookfield, WI – October 17, 2003 – DM Review is pleased to announce the 2003 DM Review 100. This prestigious award recognizes the top 100 companies serving the business intelligence community as identified by the readers of DM Review. In a product usage and company rating survey conducted via the Web by the Gantry Group, LLC, DM Review readers were asked to rank the vendors providing products used in their organizations. Readers were presented with the following product categories: servers; storage; data quality; data integration (ETL, replication, Web services); databases and data stores; BI (OLAP, query and reporting, data mining and data visualization); collaboration, portals, unstructured data, content management and knowledge management; data administration, design, management and performance; and analytic applications, business performance management and Web analytics. Respondents were also asked to provide an overall satisfaction rating for each vendor selected based on expertise, service and support.

DM Review 100 rankings were determined by a statistical analysis process. Each vendor’s final score is based on:

  1. The number of respondents reporting use of a particular vendor in a given product category (market share).
  2. The number of respondents assigning each rank for a given vendor in a given product category (product quality).
  3. The rating scores for overall satisfaction with expertise, service and support (customer satisfaction).
  4. The number of categories in which the company’s products appear. (Quality scores of companies in more than one category are averaged; market share is summed.)

At s/top100/2003/, company rankings will be revealed in reverse numerical order beginning today, and the top 25 companies will be announced in a Web cast on October 24 at 10:00 a.m. CDT.
