I am researching data warehousing in the insurance industry. Do you know how many insurers are building or have built a data warehouse (i.e. 20 percent of insurers have started a data warehousing project)? Do you know where I can go to obtain this information?
Sid Adelman's Answer: Most large insurance companies have some form of data warehouse. The important question is what they are doing with it. They could be using it for applications such as fraud and abuse detection, claims analysis, profitability by customer, product, geography and sales hierarchy, many actuarial applications, new product modeling, government reporting and more.
