Hyperion announced that Hyperion Planning has set a new standard for planning application scalability, exceeding well over 1,000 users, while falling well under industry standard response times. The rigorous performance testing was conducted in Santa Clara at the Intel's performance testing laboratory Solution Center, and represents Hyperion's first business performance management application performance benchmark.

There is a growing demand for financial and operational accountability across the enterprise – companies are increasingly relying on continuous forecasting and enterprise-wide collaboration to ensure they meet these requirements. Hyperion Planning, a centralized, Web-based planning, budgeting and forecasting solution, drives collaborative, integrated, event-based planning processes throughout the enterprise for a wide range of financial and operational needs. As an integral part of the Hyperion Business Performance Management Suite, Hyperion Planning enables companies to monitor business plans and forecasts translating strategic objectives into operational goals and targets.

The test sizing and scalability methodology created by Intel Solution Services for Hyperion Planning combined simulated user behavior running against a total of nine hardware and software configurations that included Intel Xeonprocessor-based platforms and BEA's WebLogic Server versions 6.1 and 7.0. The tests proved that Hyperion Planning could support 1,300 concurrent users with no degradation of performance or response times.
