How does Ascential DataStage handle the three different types of slowly changing dimensions?
Chuck Kelley’s Answer: Assuming that you are asking about Ralph Kimball’s three types of slow changing dimensions, not too badly. However, there is always a lot of work on the developer’s part to make sure that the data is handled properly. It is not as easy as defining one dimension to be Type 1 slowly changing dimension (SCD) and another to be a Type 2 SCD. You have to program that in yourself. This is true with all other tools as well.
