How confident can I be that my database management system tool and extract, transform and load tool will work together?

Q: I'm building an architecture that includes data warehouse (DW) software products including the DBMS (Teradata) and ETL (DataStage). My manager has asked how confident I am that these tools will work well together. Any suggestions?

Sid Adelman's Answer:

Ask each vendor for a list of customers who have the same the same set of products. Call these companies and ask penetrating questions about how well the products work together, what problems they have had (if they say they haven't had any problems, they probably have not exercised the systems significantly), and how the problems were resolved.

Chuck Kelley's Answer:

I believe you should be very confident. DataStage, even if it could not write directly to Teradata (I believe that it can, but I am not positive), will be a good choice for an ETL tool.
