The Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel has approved four interoperability specifications to support information exchange requirements under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. HITSP is an industry group that harmonizes data standards to ensure they work together. The new specifications--and all work now being done by HITSP--are designed to support ARRA's stated or expected requirements for qualified electronic health records and meaningful use of EHRs.
