November 23, 2009 – The U.K.’s only hub airport, Heathrow, deployed Progress Software’s Progress Sonic ESB in Terminal 5.
Heathrow, which handles around 67 million passengers a year, according to a company release, began a five year transformation in 2008, with work on Terminals 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Terminal 5 is dedicated to providing a positive and hassle-free experience for passengers, and high levels of data integration and encryption are necessary to meet this goal.
Sonic ESB enables Heathrow to provide airport integration capabilities, including the creation of reusable integration services for new Terminal 5 systems and of specialist adaptors for the integration of existing key operational systems, such as the Airport Operational Database Integration.
Sonic ESB is a messaging-based enterprise service bus that provides the integration of new and existing business services across organizational boundaries as well as to remote sites, according to a company release.
