Happy Holidays and welcome to the DM Review 100 issue!

Our annual DM Review 100 issue has always been one of the most anticipated issues of the year. Beginning with an introduction on page 51, we rank for you the top 100 business intelligence, data warehousing and data management vendors, with executive profiles accompanying each vendor ranking.

The DM Review 100 ranking is based on an exhaustive readership survey completed by the Gantry Group, LLC of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Many of you were asked to complete this detailed survey over the summer, and we thank those of you that did!

The readership survey looked at vendors in the business intelligence community across nine key technology categories including: business intelligence (OLAP, query and reporting, data mining and data visualization); data quality; data integration (ETL, replication, Web services); databases and data stores; analytic applications, business performance management and Web analytics; collaboration, portals, unstructured data, content management and knowledge management; data administration, design, management and performance; servers; and storage.

The rankings were not based on price or technology performance stats. Rather, our readers ranked the vendors in each product category by expertise, service, support and overall satisfaction.

Each of the DM Review 100 companies is profiled for you in this issue, beginning with IBM on page 52. DM Review editors asked each of the 100 companies to define the value that their company provides enterprises implementing/managing BI and data management solutions; their responses are found within each profile.

Additionally in this issue, you will find several timely and thought-provoking features covering key topic areas of compliance, EII, managing change and data warehousing as follows:

  • Sarbanes-Oxley is an IT Responsibility and Business Opportunity
  • The Next Generation Data Tier: A Repository for Integration Assets
  • Change Management - An Underestimated Key To Success?
  • Data Warehousing Infrastructure: Linux Clusters for the Enterprise

And of course, this issue also includes many of our renowned columnists including Claudia Imhoff, Bill Inmon, Jane Griffin, David Marco and many more who continue to supply you with regular insight and strategy on how to manage and implement your business technology solutions.
On behalf of the entire DM Review staff, we wish you a happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year!
