Expand Beyond Corp. announced the latest release of PocketDBA mobile software for database administration, which supports Oracle, SQL Server and DB2 UDB databases. This is significant because organizations are now able to truly manage their heterogeneous IT infrastructure at any time, from every place, and keep their business-critical applications running at peak performance. With PocketDBA, organizations can control any number of the world’s top three databases from a single wireless console, be it laptop, tablet or PDA. PocketDBA for Oracle and SQL Server is available today; the DB2 UDB version will be released next month.

Mobile control of the IT enterprise is quickly becoming a necessity for organizations running business-critical applications like sales force automation, customer relationship management, or Oracle financials. With Expand Beyond mobile software, companies can ensure 24x7 system and application availability. The Expand Beyond suite of mobile software includes PocketDBA for database administration and PocketAdmin for network systems administration. PocketDBA enables enterprises to monitor, manage and troubleshoot databases – securely and in real-time. PocketAdmin mobile software provides full SSH command and control over servers and network systems.

In related news, Oracle Corporation has announced their entry into the mobile database management market with EM to Go. PocketDBA and EM to Go are very different solutions. PocketDBA works off the shelf without any additional costs and supports not only Oracle but SQL Server and DB2 UDB as well, or 83 percent of the DBMS market. EM to Go enables the mobile management of only Oracle databases, and requires both Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle’s 9i Application Server Wireless.
