Exabyte Corporation, a leading innovator in tape backup, restore and archival systems, announced the release of the Magnum 1x7 LTO Autoloader, a 2u, rack-mountable, automated backup and restore product built with LTOT (UltriumT) technology and ExaBoticsT - Exabyte's world-renowned robotics. The arrival of Exabyte's Magnum 1x7 marks a breakthrough in feature set and price in the performance-class segment of tape automation.

The new Magnum 1 x 7 LTO Tape Autoloader offers one LTO-2 drive and seven cartridge slots. With 2nd generation LTO technology and Exabyte's patented robotics, it provides up to 187 GB per hour data transfer speed and 1.4 TB native capacity, all in a compact 2u form factor that conserves valuable data center rack space. An ideal first step into LTO automation, the Magnum 1x7 provides a robust set of standard features including a barcode reader, Ethernet port for network administration and remote management capability. Plus, the Magnum 1x7 was designed with the convenience of a field-replaceable drive. The Magnum 1x7 provides low-cost automated LTO-2 performance and an impressive set of standard features in a small 2u footprint with no hidden upgrade costs.

It has been certified by BakBone Software for UNIX and Microsoft Windows OS. Additional software certifications for Computer Associates, VERITAS and LEGATO for UNIX and Windows will be announced later this month.The Magnum 1x7 LTO Tape Autoloader is available immediately through Exabyte's global distribution and reseller networks.
