January 12, 2011 – IT and business analyst firm Enterprise Strategy Group plans to add analysis and advisory services for the expanding data management and big data markets with the announced acquisition of CentricInfo.

In a news release on the acquisition, ESG stated that the proposed acquisition of fellow consultancy CentricInfo is meant to address a growing demand for data management services and market trend analysis, particularly with big data. Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) estimates that data management is an $11 billion market, with an annual 20-percent growth rate.

Based minutes away from ESG’s Massachusetts headquarters, CentricInfo was founded in 2009 and has been primarily focused on consulting and analysis with data management and data centers. CentricInfo founder Julie Lockner will join ESG as a senior analyst and vice president of IT Advisory Services for Data Management, a new data management-focused division, a news release stated.

Steve Duplessie, founder and senior analyst at ESG, said the acquisition is expected to enable his company to provide end users and vendors guidance in navigating a range of data management issues.

“We all know databases are important, but now the challenges are greater –‘big data’ is a big deal. According to ESG research, managing big data is a 2011 top five strategic investment,” Duplessie said in a news release.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
