Chief executive officers will soon see a day they will have to guarantee that their business and information infrastructure will remain up and running despite cataclysmic events such as Setember 11, EMC Corp. CEO Michael C. Ruettgers told attendees December 4 during his morning keynote address at Oracle World in San Francisco.
He notes that businesses began thinking of tape storage back-up in the 1970s, disaster recovery planning in the 1980s and 1990s and business continuity planning in the new millenium. But now, he says CEOs are learning that all systems are mission critical not just transaction processing systems.
