Effective management of customer data is a challenge for a majority of enterprises according to a report released today entitled "Customer Data Management: Gaining a 360° View of Your Customers." While organizations have already invested heavily in technologies to better capture, store and analyze customer data, Aberdeen Group research reveals that organizations plan to invest more in this key area to provide a better customer experience as well as to support better decision-making by those in customer facing roles.

According to the report, numerous vendors are moving rapidly to address this need. Solution providers such as Business Objects, IBM, Informatica and Trillium have recently acquired companies such as FirstLogic, DWL/Ascential, Similarity and Avellino Technologies to allow organizations to better manage customer data. Additionally, on-demand vendors such as Pervasive Software, Experian, ValueCentric and Sterling Commerce are supporting CDM with a combination of on-premise, SaaS, managed service and/or consulting offerings.
