DataDirect Technologies, aleader in data connectivity and mainframe integration and an operating company of Progress Software Corporation announced its acquisition of OpenAccess Software, Inc., a provider of development toolkits for rapid development of ODBC and JDBC drivers, as well as ADO.NET and OLE DB providers. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The OpenAccess software development kit (SDK) enables independent software vendors (ISVs) or corporate IT departments to quickly create and embed SQL (Structured Query Language) interfaces to their proprietary applications and data formats - unlocking these previously closed data sources for use with industry standard tools from vendors such as Crystal Decisions, Cognos, MicroStrategy and Actuate. The OpenAccess SDK also enables software developers to easily integrate new applications with proprietary or legacy data sources. With the addition of the OpenAccess toolkit to the DataDirect product family, DataDirect customers can now use industry-standard SQL to access everything from relational databases, to mainframe databases, to proprietary file formats and applications.
