Curl Corporation, developers of the industry's first rich client software suite to deliver Web-distributed enterprise applications, announced the availability of Curl for Performance Management (CPM). CPM enables executives of enterprises of all sizes to access data critical to key operational decisions and processes rapidly, efficiently and securely, regardless of location. CPM is vital to companies seeking to maximize productivity and obtain a competitive advantage by streamlining and accelerating the decision process.

CPM is a dashboard that takes existing information stored on databases or other legacy systems and presents it in an easily accessible format customized to the specific needs of each user. For example, with its inherently flexible architecture, CPM adapts to the needs of "C"-level executives, offering them access to financial data and reports, operational metrics and other information critical to managing the entire enterprise. Or, project managers can access custom formatted data and reports pertaining to a particular project, rapidly review and analyze, and make real-time adjustments to enhance the efficiency of the project.

"With the launch of CPM, Curl is providing another in our line of solutions designed to enable enterprises to make more informed decisions in real-time, resulting in a significant competitive advantage," said Robert Hoyt, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Curl Corporation. "Our architecture offers a significant advantage because it enables users to access information from legacy database infrastructure and present vital analytical data and business intelligence in a simple format. It is also supported by our Occasionally Connected Computing environment, which is essential to busy executives who need the enhanced productivity that comes with the ability to access applications without the benefit of being connected directly to the server."

CPM is built on the Curl Application Framework (CAF). CAF provides a framework of best practices for developing customized dashboards which can be accessed via easily modified graphical user interfaces. Applications built on CAF enable rapid interaction with multiple information sources to extract key data for sharing, analysis and productivity enhancement. CAF is an effective toolkit for enterprise development teams or systems integrators who are tasked with developing performance dashboards. Key CAF features include the ability to:

  • View business status information
  • Modify indicator thresholds
  • Drill up, across and down
  • View metrics using multiple graphics displays and tables
  • Compare and analyze selected metrics
  • Dynamically filter and manipulate displayed data
  • Create data-driven specialized reports
  • Add customer calculations
  • Print graphical views and reports.

"Decision makers need to be able to quickly check their performance and current status," said Craig Schiff, president and CEO of BPM Partners. "In order to do this, they need a Web-based dashboard layered on top of a full scale performance management solution that supports existing performance management methodologies. The best solutions are both flexible and industry-specific. Curl provides a framework to develop these visual and actionable performance management solutions."
"Curl is properly leveraging its underlying architecture to develop applications that truly enhance business performance," said Steve Weissman, president of Kinetic Information LLC. "CPM is a great example of how technology can be used to achieve this kind of real-world benefit."
