Fomento de Construcciones Y Contratas (FCC), one of Europe’s leading construction and services firms, has implemented Ariba’s cloud-based business commerce services to build a new procurement function that is providing savings and efficiencies across FCC’s operations.

The company, based in Barcelona, provides environmental services and water management, construction of large infrastructure, cement and renewable energy production in 54 countries worldwide.

"FCC allocates two thirds of [its] income to paying suppliers and subcontractors,” Juan Carlos Montejano, management purchasing director at FCC, said in a statement. “Accurate and effective management of these important economic resources is one of the main challenges faced by a large group, in the context of addressing the challenges of the current economy."

To achieve this goal, FCC has deployed several of Ariba’s cloud-based offerings, including Ariba Sourcing On-Demand, Ariba Contract Management, Ariba Supplier Information and Performance Management, Ariba Procure-to-Pay and Ariba Invoice Management.

Delivered on-demand via the Ariba Network, the services combine cloud-based applications with Ariba’s huge Web-based trading community to help companies collaborate with global partners. Using the offerings, businesses can connect to trading partners worldwide at any time and from any application or device.

With the services in place, “we're making significant improvements in contracting conditions, working with leading companies to maintain or increase the quality of the contract,” as well as electronically managing orders and invoices, Montejano said.
