When it comes to electronic commerce, companies are going to need multiple data warehouses and data marts to handle the information. And now is the time to prepare for it. "What the information infrastructure people are finding out is that they will be building more platforms to handle more data coming in from multiple sources," says Preston Cameron, manager, Experio Solutions who spoke Thursday at Electronic Commerce World Spring 2001 Conference in Santa Clara, Calif. In the future, as companies use more outside vendors such as application service providers, they will be building more data marts for the ASP, customers and suppliers. "They will be dealing with more customization, especially for customer relationship management," he says.
