Comcast, a provider of information and communications products and services, announced Comcast Business VoiceEdge, a cloud-based voice and unified communications service that’s managed over Comcast's network.
The company says Business VoiceEdge eliminates the need for on-site equipment such as PBXs and key systems and provides organizations with predictable monthly costs for high definition-quality voice service and a suite of unified communications features.
Business VoiceEdge is now available across Michigan and Comcast plans to roll out the service nationwide by the end of 2012.
The unified communications and mobility features of the service include Be Anywhere, which allows users to have their calls follow them or to push or pull them between devices without having to disconnect and then reconnect calls; and Voicemail-to-email, which lets voice messages reach workers when they’re away from the office or working remotely by sending a copy of the voicemail to their email.
Other features are Telephony Toolbar, a downloadable client that enables click-to-dial and service management from within Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox; and Business Voice Continuity, which redirects calls to back-up numbers if there’s a power outage or other on-site issues.
Comcast Business VoiceEdge is the latest addition to the Comcast suite of voice offerings, which include Business Class Voice, a voice line service designed for small businesses; and Business Class Trunks, an intelligent phone service for larger organizations that works with existing PBX equipment and provides scalability and security using Comcast's IP network.
Business VoiceEdge is delivered over Comcast's network, which spans 20 of the nation's top 25 markets, and is monitored by multiple Network Operations Centers for continuous support.
