Cisco and BMC Software have formed a cloud infrastructure partnership that will provide telecommunications companies with a joint platform to offer large-scale cloud computing services.
Under the alliance, the companies say they are aligning product development roadmaps and technology architectures to offer a complete suite of solutions that automate the delivery of cloud services.
Cisco brings its unified computing infrastructure technology to the partnership, along with its deep relationships with some of the world’s largest global telecommunications providers. BMC brings its Cloud LifeCycle Management offering to the table, cloud computing software orchestration and management technology.
As part of the alliance, the companies announced availability of the Integrated Cloud Delivery Platform. The platform is designed to eliminate many of the complex, manual steps required to set up and provision cloud computing services.
The platform features “one click” provisioning of new cloud services, a self service cloud management portal, and security, load balancing, and class-of-service features.
“Cisco and BMC have a common vision for advancing cloud computing with unified infrastructure combined with seamless management,” Padmasree Warrior, Cisco’s chief technology officer of enterprise, commercial and small business, said in a statement. “The integrated cloud delivery platform enables our customers to deploy end-to-end IT services running on a cloud infrastructure that spans networks, systems, storage and applications.”
One major telecommunications provider, Telefonica of Spain said it will use the platform to offer an enhanced set of cloud services to its customer base.
