Certive unveiled a new class of technologies and methods that compresses the business intelligence (BI) life cycle to quickly transform corporate data into competitive advantage. Certive delivers an integrated, Web-based workspace that engages business users and IT in quick cycles of interactive prototyping, development and deployment. The company’s proprietary technology takes a radically new approach by selectively virtualizing components of the corporate data chain to build a dynamic foundation for rapid business intelligence services. At DEMO 2003, Certive demonstrated how quickly and easily a company can prototype, develop and deploy customized BI solutions that are flexible to business change. For the first time, companies are able to bridge the gap between business users’ insatiable demand for timely intelligence and the inflexibility of existing BI infrastructures.

According to Gartner, in 2002 companies spent $18.3 billion on BI initiatives in an effort to improve business performance. Yet, in spite of rising demand, BI remains difficult to implement and maintain, with long project cycles and brittle architectures. The key challenge to BI initiatives is quick response to changing business needs. The BI life cycle today involves lengthy periods of definition, design and development – creating a gap between the rapid pace of business and IT’s ability to revise the corporate data architecture. Traditional BI vendors have attempted to solve this problem by creating better user-facing tools, but ignore the fact that the underlying infrastructure simply cannot keep up with the shifting business requirements.
