Bucks County Now Live on Lawson

Bucks County, the fifth-largest county in Pennsylvania, successfully concluded a multisuite implementation of an enterprise software system from Lawson Software.

The second and final phase of implementation included deployment of finance and procurement modules of the Lawson S3 Enterprise Financial Management and Supply Chain Management suites, as well as Lawson Business Intelligence and Lawson System Foundation. Lawson Professional Services provided implementation services for the project rollout.

Enterprise Bank Selects Mimosa NearPoint

Lowell-Mass. based Enterprise Bank standardized on Mimosa NearPoint to deliver integrated content archiving, e-discovery and end-user self service search for the company’s newly deployed Microsoft Exchange infrastructure.

Chosen for its ability to archive email, files and SharePoint in a single, searchable solution, Mimosa NearPoint has eliminated user requests to recover individual email items, saving valuable IT resources.

Anson County Schools Selects Mariner

Anson County, North Carolina School District to help establish a roadmap for the District’s online Strategic Commitments Dashboard and Scorecards.

When the initiative is completed, Anson County’s District stakeholders and educational leaders will be able to communicate the progress of their three Strategic Commitments: Teaching and Learning; Organizational Effectiveness; and Engagement, enabling greater insight, accountability and transparency into student achievement.

British Airways Selects Progress Software

British Airways (BA) will use its portfolio of service-oriented architecture solutions as a key part of its travel program to upgrade its IT systems.

“With 300 locations around the globe, 25,000 users and more than 250 key applications, BA's goal is to transform the travel experience. The flexibility of the Progress SOA portfolio allows BA to extend the features of its e-commerce site right through to its airports, by allowing greater self-service functionality and 'plug and play' capability," explained Gordon Penfold, CTO, BA.

The result, according to Penfold, is to drive an agile business where rollout is easier, and cost and time is reduced. “The airport environment is complex and the systems are mission critical,” he added. “Moving this to a highly automated environment is a challenge, but SOA quickly proved itself to be the right approach to achieving our goal of a fully agile environment.”

Hudson’s Bay Company Taps QuantiSense

Hudson’s Bay Company selected QuantiSense retail analytics and business intelligence application to help standardize the company’s enterprise-wide approach to inventory accounting.

Hudson’s Bay Company is Canada’s largest diversified general merchandise retailer with more than 600 retail locations across the country under the banners Zellers, the Bay, Home Outfitters and Fields. The company’s North American parent company, Hudson’s Bay Trading Company, also owns and operates Lord & Taylor.

The QuantiSense solution will source data from Hudson’s Bay Company’s existing Teradata data warehouse, which serves more than 4,000 users, as well as from Retek and SAS’s planning solution. “We were looking for an exception-driven merchant reporting and analysis tool that would leverage our existing technology stack and investment without replicating underlying data,” said Thomas Schuetz, VP of IT Development and Support for Hudson’s Bay Company.

American Family Mutual Insurance Co. Selects Correlsense

American Family Mutual Insurance selected the Correlsense SharePath solution to ensure peak performance and availability of the insurance company’s online insurance quoting system.

Moreover, SharePath will work in concert with the other system and performance management tools already in place at American Family ─ which typically are focused on identifying problems at individual components (servers, data bases, etc.) ─ to provide a complete business transaction perspective that can be used for both proactive planning and problem resolution.

CIGNA Selects CA Access Control

CIGNA, a global health services company, has chosen CA Access Control to help secure personal health information and corporate data on CIGNA’s host systems, including Microsoft Windows, UNIX and Linux platforms. CA Access Control will also help support CIGNA compliance with regulations such as those promulgated under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

“As we execute on our security goals, we continue to streamline security processes, particularly in how we manage our user privileges and access on both physical and virtual servers across all distributed platforms,” said Craig Shumard, chief information security officer, CIGNA. “By adding Privileged User Password Management capability to CA Access Control for individuals with elevated system-level privileges, we expect to improve our audit process and the security of our data.”

Casual Male (Nasdaq: CMRG), specialty retailer of big and tall men's apparel, selected the Netezza data warehouse appliance to gain deeper insight into its existing data and to meet its goal of serving customer needs in a quick and efficient manner.

Velocity Trade, a wholesale foreign exchange dealer providing liquidity and execution in all major currencies, has gone live with SunGard’s Sierra real-time trading, risk and position management solution to help manage its FX trading services business.

Sierra helps Velocity manage its clients’ position and margin requirements for a wide variety of FX instruments. Delivered on an application service provider basis, Sierra was implemented using the solution’s quick start implementation program. This allowed Velocity to go live on the system and produce customer statements in one week.

Marshfield Clinic Chooses Netezza

Marshfield Clinic selected the Netezza TwinFin appliance to address the research database and computation needs of the Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation.

The Marshfield Clinic system provides patient care, research and education with 45 locations in northern, central and western Wisconsin, making it one of the largest comprehensive medical systems in the United States.

"We began working with Netezza more than a year ago. The new system automates information transfer and storage, processes that were previously done manually, with spreadsheets.

South Jersey Healthcare Standardizes on Mimosa

South Jersey Healthcare (SJH) selected the Mimosa NearPoint archiving solution for data protection and disaster recovery of vital email data.

SJH will leverage Mimosa’s unified archiving solution as part of the organization’s comprehensive archiving strategy to facilitate HIPAA requirements.

“Before we implemented Mimosa NearPoint we faced very slow email mailbox restore times,” said Andrew Gahm, systems and security engineer, SJH. “MAPI backup processes were slowing us down and we had no features to perform needed searching, PST archiving, or eDiscovery. NearPoint cuts out many of the time consuming steps required for email recovery so we can perform operational recoveries much more quickly.”

American Tower Selected expressor software

American Tower, a leading owner and operator of communications sites for the wireless and broadcast industries, will use the expressor semantic data integration systemtm to improve the load performance of its existing data warehousing application.

“Our current ETL tool has been having difficulty meeting the data loading and data transformation requirements for our data warehouse application,” said Kevin Roden, CIO, American Tower. “In a rigorous proof of concept test, expressor successfully demonstrated how their data integration software can significantly reduce our data loading times and allow us to perform complex data transformations in a single process. Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma America Selects SAS

Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma America, Inc. (DSPA), a U.S. pharmaceutical company, selected SAS Solutions OnDemand: Drug Development as a technology platform for clinical development.

With SAS OnDemand, DSPA will have a globally accessible, fully regulatory compliant repository for all of its clinical data.
