The Institute of Cancer Research Selects InterSystems Ensemble

 

The Institute of Cancer Research, one of the world’s leading cancer research organizations, is working with InterSystems to streamline its administrative processes and increase data consistency and accuracy.

 

The InterSystems Ensemble integration platform was chosen to integrate and simplify The Institute’s internal administration associated with registering new starters and updating information on current employees.

 

“We chose InterSystems Ensemble because of its very extensive and mature systems integration and application development capabilities,” said Jeremy Harrington, IT director at The Institute of Cancer Research. “Not only did it meet our basic needs for data integration and account provisioning, but the product also has a fully featured object-oriented database, workflow and business process management functionality. In addition, Ensemble is a highly functional platform for management of all aspects of application development.”

 

Air and Space Expeditionary Force Enlists WebFOCUS

 

The U.S. Air and Space Expeditionary Force (AEF) Operations selected Information Builders WebFOCUS software to give flying units and their direct support personnel, the tools and information they need to plan and execute successful missions.

 

The AEF was designed to improve the U.S. Air Force’s ability to deploy an effective force in times of need, from humanitarian assistance missions to major regional conflicts. Supporting AEF missions is a massive data access and reporting challenge.

 

“It’s vitally important that information pertaining to each stage of an Air Force deployment process be readily available to Air Force commanders so they can exercise their best judgment related to deployment of Air Force capabilities all over the globe,” said Col. Robert Lala, deputy director of AEF Operations. “WebFOCUS gives us a common data platform for distributing AEF deployment information. Not only can we respond faster to customer requests, but the answers provided are able to be shared across a broad spectrum of users.”

 

The NFL Uses Fair Isaac to Create Season Schedules

 

The NFL used Fair Isaac Corp’s Optimal Planning Solutions's sports-scheduling solution and Xpress-MP optimization tool to deliver the NFL's playing schedule.

 

Optimal Planning Solutions customized its advanced sports-scheduling tools to mathematically model and solve the NFL's complex scheduling problems.

 

"There are a myriad of complex scheduling requirements and constraints that must be taken into account each season," said Michael North, NFL director of broadcast planning and scheduling. "We chose Optimal Planning Solutions and Fair Isaac because they not only understood our unique requirements but also created a tool that greatly improves the timeliness of our scheduling process and the overall quality of the schedules. The result is an outstanding playing schedule for our fans, teams, and broadcast partners."

 

Solutia Inc. Deploys Oracle Real Application Clusters

 

Solutia Inc., a global specialty chemicals company, deployed clustered Oracle Databases on Microsoft Windows to support its North American manufacturing sites.

 

Solutia deployed its initial database cluster three years ago at its Greenwood, South Carolina manufacturing facility and extended its clustered environment in 2007 by completing the rollout of Oracle Database 10g, Oracle Real Application Clusters and Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g on a two-node cluster of Dell PowerEdge servers at its Pensacola, Florida site.

 

"We have been very impressed with the application performance and reliability we've achieved after switching to a clustered environment," said Sachin Kothari, manager of corporate applications and systems integration, Solutia Inc. "Oracle Enterprise Manager has been especially beneficial in keeping the system operational and we have not experienced any unplanned downtime since rolling out Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Real Application Clusters. In addition, we now have an infrastructure in place that can easily scale out to support future business growth."

 

Ergo In Demand Deploys Mercado Ignition OnDemand

 

Ergo In Demand, a distributor of ergonomic office furniture and computer accessories, deployed Mercado Ignition OnDemand.
 
By using Mercado’s search, navigation and merchandising software as a service offering, Ergo In Demand doubled their site search traffic, resulting in a large increase in conversion rates for customers using the search application versus those that don’t.

 

“With our recent site redesign we’ve seen a 300 percent increase with customers using the Mercado search box to find products. Because those customers convert approximately 15 times more often than our other customers, we continue to look for additional navigation paths to the search application,” said to Chad Goldsmith, manager, e-commerce marketing at Ergo In Demand, Inc.
