July 29, 2011 – CA Technologies announced a deal Friday to buy WatchMouse, a privately held provider of SaaS monitoring and management for cloud, mobile and Web applications.

Financial terms of the definitive agreement for the APM provider and its Netherlands-based executive branch, Watchmouse B.V., were not disclosed.

With WatchMouse’s offerings, user transactions are replicated from a series of monitoring stations around the world for access to frequently updated performance management and availability of Web applications and cloud functionality, according to the company’s website.

WatchMouse will be sold as an add-on capability to CA’s application monitoring solution as well as its cloud customers through Nimsoft, which CA acquired in March 2010.

David Dobson, executive vice president at CA, said in a news release that his company wants WatchMouse to add as a safeguard to its portfolio of offerings for customers on the performance of their applications and overall business.

“As companies extend more applications to their customers through the Web and smartphones, the performance of those applications is having a greater impact on revenue, customer loyalty and brand value,” said Dobson.
