Business Objects, a provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced its support for IBM's DB2 Cube Views, new software that enhances the OLAP capabilities of DB2 Universal Database. Business Objects has integrated its software, including BusinessObjects Enterprise 6, the new version of the company's business intelligence suite, with DB2 Cube Views to provide joint customers with increased query performance and streamlined BI infrastructure administration.

BusinessObjects Enterprise 6, which is available on the IBM AIX platform, provides organizations with one integrated, functionally complete BI environment for all users, from the casual report viewer to the report author to the data analyst, and ensures compatibility between all elements of the BI suite. The integration of Enterprise 6 with DB2 Cube Views enables users to take full advantage of new OLAP and query optimization technologies available in DB2. In fact, laboratory beta testing has returned queries more than ten times faster than before. Furthermore, from an administration perspective, using Business Objects and DB2 Cube Views streamlines the often resource intensive meta data management and administration functions. The combined solution allows the administrator to define meta data only once – significantly reducing deployment times, and dramatically lowering long- term cost of ownership.

Business Objects and IBM share a long business and technical alliance history, and Business Objects played an active role in the testing of DB2 Cube Views. The strength of the alliance is reflected in the tight integration between the two company's products. Business Objects supports a wide range of IBM technology, including DB2 Universal Database, DB2 OLAP Server, the IBM AIX operating system, and IBM WebSphere Application Server among others.
