BMC Software Simplifies the Management of Complex Database Environments with Integration of IMS Databases into SmartDBA Console

  • September 30 2004, 1:00am EDT

BMC Software, Inc., a leader in enterprise management, announced the integration of IMS databases into its SmartDBA console. With the introduction of SmartDBA System Administration for IMS, BMC Software is offering the ability to manage all major databases (IMS, DB2 Universal Database for mainframe and distributed platforms, Oracle, Sybase and SQL Server) from one Web-based console. In doing so, BMC Software is addressing the IT challenge of managing increasingly complex environments by providing a closed-loop process for proactively identifying, preventing and resolving database problems before they affect the business.

With the introduction of SmartDBA System Administration for IMS, BMC Software is extending the advanced functionality it delivers for managing the performance, administration and recovery of IMS databases to the SmartDBA console. SmartDBA for System Administration for IMS provides customers with an integrated solution for all of their IMS administration tasks. Additional performance and recovery solutions for IMS databases will be integrated into the SmartDBA console later this year.

SmartDBA for System Administration for IMS v2.0 will be available in November in the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa. SmartDBA Database Performance for IMS Online, Express and Fast Path, SmartDBA Recovery Management for IMS and MAXM Database Advisor for IMS will be available in December.
