BMC Software Inc. and webMethods Inc. are launching PATROL for webMethods, an application designed to manage Fairfax, Virginia-based webMethods' integration platform.

The enterprise tool will enable users to enhance the availability and performance of webMethods' integration platform while reducing costs and maximizing existing information technology investments, the companies say.

By monitoring and managing the webMethods integration platform, PATROL for webMethods automatically alerts operators to potential problems. It is designed to allow customers to quickly locate and easily determine the status of components responsible for executing business transactions.

The application also will help companies prevent transaction failures, downtime and ultimately the loss of business, notes BMC, a Houston-based provider of enterprise management software. It will give the information technology sector the ability to better meet service level agreements around the availability of the integration platform, thereby strengthening service management capabilities, the company adds.

Scheduled to be available in March, PATROL for webMethods supports the current version of the webMethods integration platform. Pricing is based on server size and starts at $5,000.
