A former executive with previous stints at Sybase and Informix is the new executive diretor of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, which is developing wireless Internet technology and standards for handheld devices. The executive director, Mike McCamon, will initially focus on building stronger relationships between its members and the trade association.

McCamon joins the Bluetooth SIG with nearly twenty years of experience in the technology industry having worked at Informix, Sybase, Apple Computer, Iomega and Intel Corp. in the United States and Europe. Most recently, McCamon managed wireless standards evangelism at Intel and served as a director on the Bluetooth SIG Board along with having recently been elected chairman of the Bluetooth SIG Marketing Committee.

Bluetooth wireless technology is a specification for a small- form factor, low-cost radio solution providing links between mobile computers, mobile phones and other portable handheld devices, and connectivity to the Internet.
