May 3, 2010 – BackOffice Associates announced the acquisition of HiT Software, Inc., a data integration and change data capture software provider.

With this acquisition, BackOffice Associates is coupling its data governance and master data management platforms with HiT software’s suite of CDC and data access products, according to the company release.

The acquisition is move that will make them a bigger and more relevant company, says Liz Herbert, principal analyst for Forrester Research.

Rob Karel, principal analyst for Forrester, describes the acquisition as a clear step in BackOffice Associates’ transition from a services company to a data management software platform company. “They’ve obviously been focusing on their data integration, data quality and master data management capabilities and HiT gives them additional in-house capabilities to support more real-time integration scenarios.”

HiT will accelerate BackOffice Associates’ ability to provide database independence for the company’s product line, Tom Kennedy, BackOffice Associates Co-founder and CTO, was quoted to say. “Hit Software’s extensive database support for a wide range of major relational databases will enable BackOffice to extend it’s capabilities into a broader customer base.”
