Ascential Software Corp. is breaking out its first quarter numbers. Total revenue for Ascential's products and service offerings was $20.1 million in the first quarter versus $25.0 million in the fourth quarter of 2001. License revenue for Ascential's enterprise data integration solutions was $10.7 million in the first quarter, and service revenue was $9.4 million. On a GAAP basis, total revenue was $20.8 million versus $27.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2001.
Pro forma loss was $10.9 million or $0.04 per share. On a GAAP basis, including certain items, loss per share was $0.06 for the first quarter. The loss for the fourth quarter of 2001, on a GAAP basis, was $31.2 million or $0.12 per share.
"There has been much that we have accomplished this quarter, although our revenue progress is taking longer than anticipated in the continuing weak IT spending environment," says Ascential Software CEO Peter Geynes.
