Ascential Software Corporation announced that it has acquired the assets of iNuCom, based in Hyderabad, India. iNuCom specializes in system software development for relational database servers and data warehousing products.  Forty-seven iNuCom employees, including 39 engineers and eight administrative staff, are now employees in the Ascential Software global product development organization. With the addition of the new staff, Ascential Software has nearly 1,000 employees worldwide. Ascential Software acquired iNuCom in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $250,000.

"Ascential Software established a contract development relationship with iNuCom more than a year ago. During this time, iNuCom gained significant knowledge of our technology and products," said Jim Welch, vice president of Product Development at Ascential Software. "The iNuCom team has demonstrated a high degree of proficiency in data integration solutions.  The contribution of these talented engineers to our worldwide R&D program positions us to accelerate our pace of innovation and market responsiveness."

Ascential Software sees strategic value in establishing a research and development presence in the Asia-Pacific region.  This addition to Ascential Software's development resources broadens Ascential Software's global engineering presence to all major international regions and bolsters the company's access to technical talent wherever and whenever it is needed. In addition to these engineering functions, the company also plans to use the facility in India to add resources in its services operations to meet the needs of a growing customer base in the Asia/Pacific region.
