Applied OLAP, Inc., a software development company that caters exclusively to users of the industry-leading Hyperion Essbase XTD, announced that it is developing the StarOffice Calc Application Add-in for Hyperion Essbase XTD. The Calc Application is Sun Microsystem’s spreadsheet component to the StarOffice 6.1 Suite. StarOffice software is an affordable alternative in office productivity suites that runs on multiple operating systems, including Solaris Operating Environment, Microsoft Windows and Linux.

The new Calc Application Add-in will support popular Hyperion Essbase XTD functionality for ad-hoc analysis similar to the capabilities found in the other Hyperion Essbase spreadsheet add-ins. The product release is expected to be coincident with the release of StarOffice 6.1 this summer.

“Hyperion is pleased to see the close working relationship between its Platinum Technology Partner – Applied OLAP and Sun,” said Rich Clayton, vice president, product strategy. “This is an example of how Hyperion, together with its over 330 partners worldwide, provides business performance management capabilities that help customers of world class organizations like Sun reach their business goals.“ Hyperion certified Applied OLAP as a Platinum Technology Partner for its flagship product ActiveOLAP for Essbase. To receive this special designation Hyperion Partners must pass extensive technical testing to demonstrate tight integration of their technology with the Essbase platform. In addition, they must also have numerous mutual customer reference sites.
