Alphablox Corporation, a provider of enterprise analytic solutions, announced the release of Alphablox 5, a major upgrade to its business analytics platform. With this release, Global 2000 enterprises will create more powerful analytic solutions such as financial reporting and analysis, sales and revenue analysis, manufacturing analysis and retail applications. A new, extensible, DHTML client allows more flexibility, unmatched personalization of the user interface, and more interactive presentation of information. Enterprises will empower users with collaborative analysis on every detail using CommentsBlox. With FastForward, users can customize their own reporting and analysis solutions by selecting and saving report views. Development of an enterprise-wide solution will be easier because of added Blox components that package commonly used functionality, a more powerful calculation engine and bookmark enhancements.

The new, powerful DHTML client give users the ability to flexibly display data the way they need it, rather than the way other business intelligence tools display it. For example, users can display a view that looks like a balance sheet, income statement, or butterfly report and interact with (drill, slice, pivot, etc.) it.

Additional Blox components include CommentsBlox that allows comments to be added down to individual cells and displays a cell indicator when comments are present, improving user collaboration. FormBlox allows highly interactive, parameter-driven solutions, with Blox for the developer that allow a user to easily choose objects for personalized queries such as data sources, members, and time series. TimeSchemaBlox adds sophisticated support of dynamic time series, such as showing data from the "last 3 months." MDBQueryBlox enables OLAP queries to be built with one language regardless of the underlying server's query language, and MemberSecurityBlox can be used to hide members from unauthorized users.

The new FastForward self-service framework includes templates for quickly building reporting and analysis solutions so that users can customize their own application, selecting and saving report views from a navigation menu, and building new report views using templates. FastForward has features for application developers that allow them to create new templates, organize views and enforce security by associating report folders with user groups.

Alphablox 5 also has increased OLAP support for Hyperion Essbase XTD, including Essbase Enterprise Services (EES) and Hybrid Analysis support.

Alphablox also announced the release of Enterprise Alerts which is highly scalable and integrates quickly and easily into an enterprise's infrastructure. Enterprise Alerts can be fully integrated into an Alphablox analytic solution, run as a standalone application or be embedded into a corporation's existing applications. Information is filtered via a powerful relevance engine. Filters can based on multiple criteria across multiple data sources resulting in the most relevant alerts possible.
