Allianz Deutschland has deployed Intelligent Mechatronic Systems’ (IMS) connected-car platform for their usage-based insurance offering, BonusDrive.

Allianz BonusDrive now includes enhanced mobile UBI technology, provided by IMS’ DriveSync5 platform, which is connected to a 12 volt Bluetooth car adapter for precise vehicle identification, real-time driver behavior, coaching and feedback. The auto insurer says it will use data collected to reward drivers up to 30% discounts on premiums at year’s end.

“IMS and Allianz share a common vision to make our roads safer,” said Frank Sommerfeld, board member of Allianz Versicherungs-AG, in a statement. “IMS’ mobile UBI technology provides exceptional performance, data collection and analysis, along with a compelling end-user experience; but it’s IMS’ expertise, responsiveness and speed to market leveraging DriveSync 5 that has made for a rewarding partnership.”
