April 9, 2008 - Aditya Birla Retail Limited, a part of an Indian business group, selected Oracle Retail merchandising, planning and supply chain applications to help drive its retail growth plans in the country.

The Indian retail sector, which is the fifth largest retail destination globally, is estimated to grow from $330 billion in 2007 to $ 427 billion by 2010. As a result, Aditya Birla Retail has aggressive plans for the retail space and plans to set up a number of formats under the “more” brand.

One of the key reasons Aditya Birla selected Oracle Retail applications was the flexibility to support multiple store formats.

The retail company’s plan to transform the Indian retail sector will be supported by an IT backbone built on Oracle Retail applications. The company will use Oracle Financials, part of the Oracle E-Business Suite, as well as infrastructure software including Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Database.
