Actuate Corporation, a provider of scalable business intelligence applications, announced the UpTrade Program to assist organizations coping with the uncertainty created by the recently announced sales of Crystal Decisions to Business Objects and Brio Software to Hyperion. Through November 28th, Actuate's UpTrade program will provide financial incentives for customers of Brio Software, Business Objects and Crystal Decisions to migrate to Actuate's Information Application Platform, which today offers a single, integrated solution to meet their varied business intelligence needs.

In an effort to increase efficiency and reduce ongoing technology-related costs, organizations are seeking to consolidate the number of technologies they utilize to address their business intelligence requirements. In order to realize this vision of streamlined enterprise architectures, customers require a single, integrated platform that is both scalable enough to meet the needs of their total user population and flexible enough to meet the diversity of information requirements throughout the enterprise.

The recently announced acquisitions in fact delay the achievement of the goal of having a single platform for many organizations. Customers aren't really seeking a single vendor offering multiple, disparate solutions, but a single solution that integrates well with existing infrastructure. Business Objects, Brio Software, Crystal Decisions and Hyperion now face daunting dual challenges of eliminating redundant technologies in their product lines and engineering a solution that delivers on customers' immediate needs for an integrated platform. The UpTrade program is designed to provide an alternative to customers who do not want to compromise their Business Intelligence deployment strategies as they wait in uncertainty for vendors to rationalize and integrate their product lines.

The UpTrade program enables customers to rapidly switch to Actuate's Information Application Platform that is scalable up to 24,000 concurrent users and flexible enough to enable organizations to build and centrally manage multiple customized information applications including business performance management dashboards, information portals as well as business analytic, enterprise reporting and spreadsheet reporting applications.
