Lake Buena Vista, Fla., Oct. 13, 1999 - Acta Technology, Inc. (Acta) announced at the GartnerGroup's Symposium/ITxpo 99 conference that its data warehousing solutions will now be available on Solaris 7, a next-generation, 64-bit operating environment by Sun Microsystems, Inc.

Solaris 7 will now support the Acta RapidMart suite, a series of pre-configured data warehouses for business analysis in specific areas such as sales, costs, accounting and inventory. RapidMarts are powered by ActaWorks 3.1, an extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) platform. Acta solutions are all tightly integrated with enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications from major vendors such as SAP and PeopleSoft. The Solaris 7 Operating Environment provides enhanced performance and scalability for both SPARC and Intel platforms via a full 64-bit kernel, which can deliver four billion times the maximum capacity of 32-bit operating environments. The 64-bit capacity allows many more applications to be consolidated onto a single server running the Solaris Operating Environment and adds increased headroom to existing hardware.
