While the Linux open-source operating system sector is on course for 154 percent growth in 2001, and to be the dominant Web server platform by mid 2002, its success still is dependent on functionality improvements, research reveals.

A poll of business managers, technical heads and service managers from many of the major Internet Service Providers found that improvements in software ability, file systems functionality and ease of installation will accelerate growth, reports Idaya Ltd., a London-based Internet software firm. The company conducted its research between January and March.
