"So far, so good" is how Hewlett-Packard Chief Executive Officer Carly Fiorina is describing her company’s multibillion dollar takeover of Compaq Computer Corp. "It’s a smooth transition," Fiorina told attendees during her Oct. 9 keynote address at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2001 in Orlando. "What you can expect from us one month after the merger officially closes is that everyone will know their accounting representative and the transition and migration path."

H-P announced in September that it was acquiring Compaq in a deal valued at $87 billion.
