As VP of Industry Services, one of my roles is to effectively facilitate alliance relationships for DAMA International (DAMA-I). This month, I would like to discuss a few highlights of the Alliance Relationship Tactical Plan that is now complete and being followed for best practice execution for this year's program.

The purpose of the plan is to outline tactics needed to support the strategy areas and objectives of the DAMA-I Board. In addition, this document was written to guide and plan activities needed to enable DAMA-I to maintain the mission and goal of being the premier data management association.

Highlighted success factors for plan execution include: awareness of alliance relationship benefits to the DAMA-I chapters and individual members, direct utilization and benefit feedback tracking, and positive industry image development and branding exposure for DAMA-I.

The plan also calls for additional infrastructure including: an alliance relationship process used to initiate, assess, explore, execute and appropriately end association with outlined roles and responsibilities; artifacts needed for the process and relationship management; and a yearly program plan that is flexible and targeted.

A few program initiatives that will be highlighted within this year's program plan are: The Speakers List will continue to be overhauled following symposium and updated quarterly to better aid chapter programs by providing the most accurate information; continued infrastructure improvement, such as Artifact Templating, allowing for a more expedient and streamlined relationship proposal and agreement process; and vendor product discount concentration obtaining, in a vendor-neutral manner, appropriate product discount for the DAMA members.

Marketing and Distribution will play a key role in creating awareness and executing the plan. Communications and Online Services will continue to ensure proper image and online presence in communicating these relationships through various means and media.

You may view most alliance relationships online at www.dama.org. Also, view the DAMA-I newsletter for updates and announcements regarding alliances.

Please forward any input regarding alliance relationships with DAMA-I to VP_Industry_Services@dama.org.
