In my first active year as Vice President of Industry Services, I am very excited to report that we have reactivated a few meaningful and beneficial services.

The quarterly overhaul updating plan for the speakers list has been very successful. Changes are communicated to Online Services almost daily; these will be updated online each quarter. A major overhaul has been in progress to ensure the speakers list is one that is accurate, easy to access and provides references for the chapters. We will now be collecting specific and most recent information regarding speakers relating to their latest DAMA-I and Chapter engagements and events. In addition, the speakers list will provide contact names so DAMA members can obtain comments concerning the reception and presentation of a speaker's most recent appearance.

The first draft of the data management-related standards list is complete and will soon be reviewed by the VP of Education. The list will be user friendly and distributed and updated annually.

A partnership relationship template was developed and completed for acquiring information pertaining to not-for-profit and profit associations, organizations and companies. These templates are used to determine the benefits, relevance and discounts available to DAMA-I members. The implementation of the membership database is crucial in order to take advantage of these benefits. The VP of Industry Services may use the membership database to effectively communicate to potential alliances and affiliates a sound and accurate identification and count of members eligible to partake in vendor discount offerings.

Other efforts include events such as ER2001 and the West Coast tour. The ER2001 conference was deemed a success, and attendance for DAMA-I's workshop was doubled. Additional contacts were received and were threefold from last year. DAMA-I looks forward to participating in ER2002 driven by the VP of Conference Services. The West Coast tour took much planning and is now set for San Francisco, Portland, Sacramento, Los Angeles and Phoenix in September 2002.

Any input regarding speaker, standards information or alliance requests are welcome. Please forward feedback to or I aim to improve and enhance the benefits to our members within the industry service arena.
