When Ingram Micro needed a better way to analyze a Web infrastructure that processes more than 60 million transactions daily, the company built a special data mart to handle the job.
Called the Web Insight Platform, the data mart captures as many as 700,000 daily page requests for analysis and tracks order activity by sales channel, including the Internet and call centers. Prior to building a data mart, Ingram Micro used server log reporting products, inquiries to the data warehouse and other techniques to analyze sales traffic patterns.
