DAMA International (DAMA-I) is pleased to announce the world's largest vendor-neutral data management event, the 16th Annual DAMA International Symposium and 8th Annual Wilshire Meta-Data Conference, May 2nd to May 6th, 2004, in Los Angeles, California. This year's event has been expanded to cover nearly every topic of interest to today's information management professional, from novices to senior information technology (IT) managers to knowledge- workers.
The program includes seven full-conference tracks, including a new combined track on technology and interaction between the business and IT, 10 preconference workshops, 10 full-day tutorials, night school sessions, user group meetings and a review class for ICCP. This year, we also have a special offering of consulting skills and IT management seminars scheduled after the conference. Some of the conference topics this year include the business focus of data, return on investment in data, consulting skills for data professionals, managing IT professionals, business-focused data modeling, data stewardship, meta data success stories, data quality, data architecture, XML, impact of legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley on data management, business rules, data standards, data warehousing, reference data, agile methodology, business intelligence, business rules, enterprise architecture, new methodologies and technologies, and numerous presentations on data and process modeling. We also have a record number of success stories from corporate practitioners.
Keynote speakers include Chris Date and the 2004 DAMA International Professional Recognition Award Winner, Len Silverston. Presenters include Joe Celko, Graham Witt, John Zachman, Fabian Pascal, Todd Stephens, Marcie Barkin Goodwin, Steve Hoberman, Bob Seiner, David Marco, Alec Sharp, John Ladley, Ron Ross, Terry Moriarty, Terry Halpin, Mike Brackett and Graeme Simsion.
There is an early-bird conference discount of $100 for those who register and pay by March 19, 2004. Additional group discounts are available that include a free registration for every four paid registrations from the same company. If your budget will permit you to attend only one conference this year, this is definitely the one you don't want to miss!
In addition, there will be two significant meetings held at the conference. On the evening of May 3rd, there will be a general membership meeting of DAMA members. This meeting is open to DAMA members and anyone interested in learning more about DAMA. On the evening of May 5th, there will be a meeting of the DAMA Professional Group Council.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Los Angeles!
