Los Angeles, Calif., Dec. 21, 1999 101communications LLC (101) announced that it has acquired The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI), a premier educational association in the data warehousing industry.
"TDWI provides very high-quality conferences, teaching technologies that are now central to the explosive growth of e-commerce," said Curt Hessler, 101's chairman and CEO. "This acquisition is our seventh in less than a year, and we expect TDWI will be a major building block for 101's growth in 2000 and beyond."
With more than 4,000 members who are data warehousing and information technology professionals from Fortune 1000 corporations, consulting organizations and governments in 45 countries, The Data Warehousing Institute provides real-world lessons and information about best practices in the increasingly mission-critical areas of business intelligence and decision support.
Founded in 1995, TDWI sponsors and promotes worldwide membership, educational conferences and seminars, on-site training courses, solution provider and vendor partnerships and awards programs for the best practices in data warehousing and innovative technologies, resourceful publications, an in- depth research program and a comprehensive Web site. 101communications, founded in late 1998, acquires and operates specialized media and events that target digital professionals and the IT vendors that market to them. 101 is backed by Frontenac Co., a prominent private equity firm with more than $750 million under management.
