China needs to quicken AI adoption in the real economy, Xi says
(Bloomberg) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping called for deeper integration of big data and artificial intelligence with the real economy to propel the country’s long-term growth.
China should attach greater importance to the development of science and technology, while at the same time optimizing its economic structures, Xi told at a collective study session of the Communist Party Central Committee’s Political Bureau last week.
The country “needs to make better use of global resources and markets, and to improve its modern economic structure to enhance international competitiveness,” Xi was quoted by Xinhua News Agency as saying.
China’s leader has emphasized the need to use data to improve governance in recent years. Xi, addressing the 19th National Congress of the party in October, called for the embedding of advanced technologies into the real economy.
